USDA guidelines vs. CDC fluid intake research study
What groups benefit the most from IV hydration therapy?
The IV RV provides IV hydration therapy to three groups of individuals:
*For overall wellness, optimal hydration, specifically prevention of dehydration, has a positive impact on every system of the body from the skin to the brain.
*For alcohol intoxication, IV hydration lowers blood alcohol levels twice as fast normal metabolism and reverses alcohol-induced dehydration, the leading cause of hangovers.
*Athletes who want to optimize their hydration level before and after their event. Before the event, the focus is on enhanced performance. Following the event, the focus is on enhanced recovery.
Why do we recommend IV fluid when you're intoxicated?
It treats intoxication induced nausea.
It prevents alcohol-induced dehydration, the biggest cause of hangovers.
When you're ready to drive home, it lowers BAL twice as fast as normal metabolism.
What to expect during your IV Therapy Infusion:
The RN will explain each step of the process. The RN will first review client paperwork and discuss your medical history.
During treatment, a RN will insert an IV line into an accessible vein. The IV line is attached to a bag of fluid, which is hung above the patient’s head. Fluids inside of the IV bag will be carried to the veins over a period of time. The duration of treatment typically lasts between 10 – 20 mins.
Occasionally, our clients report cooling of their arm at the infusion site. This is a normal occurrence.
If you experience pain, swelling, or leaking during the IV, please notify the RN right away. Some discomfort during the IV insertion is normal. The RN will assess the IV to make sure it is flowing properly.
What to expect after your IV therapy infusion:
You can resume normal activity
Apply pressure to site for 5 minutes after IV has been removed
Keep gauze in place for 4 hours
Any pain, swelling, redness, or excessive bleeding or drainage from the IV insertion site should be promptly reported to your doctor for follow-up

Patients generally feel better right away. Due to a busy lifestyle, many people are chronically dehydrated causing them not to feel well. Once the patient is hydrated, their symptoms improve quickly.
